Bitter Gun Clingin’ North Dakotans Have Reason To Be Proud

5 01 2009

As Newsbusters reported the other day, nearly twice as many Americans were murdered in Chicago than Iraq (in 2008).

Now OutOfTheBlu has learned that of the two (2) murders in North Dakota, neither involved a gun.  The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership has ranked North Dakota 44 out of 50 in gun control.

And while we’re far too lazy to research homicide rates in America to compare red states (or red cities) to blue.  We’re quite capable of generalizing that guns don’t kill people. Crowded urban centers, that win elections for Democrats, do.

Ten “Suspected Gunmen” Paralyze City Of 19Million

It seems there might have been only 10 terrorists in the most recent Mumbai attacks. If true, it’s not only lucky, as thousands could have died from a larger assault, but it’s a serious embarrassment for the Indian military.  This report suggests policemen within shooting range, neglected to fire at the terrorists during the rampage.  I have a feeling legally armed citizens in Texas could have settled a similar threat faster than the 3 days it took India.  Just don’t go expecting any corporate media outlets to start pushing “conceal to carry” laws.

This story should remind everyone about the damage a small unit of terrorists can inflict on open societies where neighborly trust and commerce prevail.  I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that liberals continue to misdiagnose the problem.  Half the time, they argue that Al-Qaeda is disorganized and that the threat is overblown.  The other half, when at least admitting a problem, think it’s a police matter and not a military one.

To those who hold either mindset, you need to understand that just because Al-Qaeda means, “the base,” doesn’t mean they have 8:00am conference calls with every one of the tens of millions of radicalized Muslims on the planet.  You are correct though.  There is indeed something that binds Al Qaeda with these people.  A way for them to all be united and informed.  A tacit understanding that motivates and guides them.  A manual for life and a handbook with all the answers.  Figure it out. Besides, you don’t agree with profiling or wiretaps anyways, and this is an international issue being financed in Saudi Arabia and Iran.  So beyond good old “blue” diligently supporting Uncle Sam, the only local involvement we suggest is a capable Americanization plan for new immigrants.

By the way, the headline was a derived from a real quote made by an international wire service with a diseased, leftist agenda.

Melanie Phillips lays it out in her, “Reverting to type” piece.  And as usual, Mark Steyn drives it home as well in his, “Just another front.”
