Maybe Just Invite The Press To The “Herd Mentality” WH Cocktail Parties?

20 03 2009

Andrew Malcom slips one by the LA Times editing board and steals The Onion’s thunder as Obama banned the press from his, “Newsmaker of the Year” award ceremony.   The press is giving Obama the award, but someone else will have to hand it to him and cheer.

We are not making this up:

Barack Obama was elected commander in chief promising to run the most transparent presidential administration in American history.

This achievement and the overall promise of his historic administration caused the National Newspaper Publishers Assn. to name him “Newsmaker of the Year.”

The president is to receive the award from the federation of black community newspapers in a White House ceremony this afternoon.

The Obama White House has closed the press award ceremony to the press.

From the president’s official schedule:

“Later in the afternoon, the President and the First Lady will attend a reception with the National Newspaper Publisher Association in the State Dining Room, where they will be presented the Newsmaker of the Year award. This event is closed press.”

Maybe they’ll let the newspaper people pass the award through the fence.

Or, maybe they could invite them to the newly reestablished, Wednesday night soirees at the White House, eloquently described by Letitia Baldrige.

Letitia Baldrige, former social secretary to first ladies Jacqueline Kennedy and Lady Bird Johnson, told FOXNews.com, “no real, substantial conversation takes place” at White House cocktail parties.

“We had them, we didn’t like them, but they are a necessary evil,” Baldrige said. “The best thing is to be invited to dinner, really, then lunch, then a morning breakfast meeting. These are sit-down, conversation-friendly events.

“But cocktail parties need a herd mentality. You go with the herd mentality and talk about what the herd is talking about. It’s nothing more, really, than going there to see and be seen.”

The party’s main function, Baldrige said, is simply to take care of people who feel left out or hurt.

“It’s a way of taking care of social obligations,” she said. “It’s just a way of making people feel good.

Sounds perfect for the press and for Obama…except that Obama has a reputation for partying with terrorist fundraisers and sympathizers, and has been known to get tore up and bash Israel on tapes that the press refuses to release.

Here’s Obama at an Arab American Action Network dinner party in 1998, probably talking about Jews with PLO advisor Edward Said.

Here’s another shot so you can peep the hottie a little closer.

She’s so fabulous!, I wonder if she had awesome, toned biceps back then!

Thanks to Terri for the White House party alert

UPDATE: Charles at LGF has a worthy update and a great suggestion for the supper club guestlist.

The National Newspaper Association, despite its innocuous name, is actually an association of far-left publications that includes “Final Call” — the paper published by Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam: NNPA – Article – member papers.

And that explains why Obama doesn’t want the mainstream press at this award ceremony.

Strange.  Why would a man like Louis Farrakhan take to BHO?

I had one of my liberal co-workers read this today. It was funny to watch his facial expressions change as he read it. He went from “this is just stupid” to just being shocked. I asked him what he thought about it after he read it and he just said “hmmm, I dunno.”

I’ll have to make him read more posts so that he can get at least a bit of truth into that thick head of his.
