MN Rep Ellison Goes To Hajj Where He “Forgets He’s An American”

12 12 2008

OutOfTheBlue lives in this pig’s district.

Last week we illustrated some of the anti-Americanism that headlined the Hajj. It hadn’t occurred to us that our own Representative was there soaking it all in.

Not from the Star Tribune, or any Minnesota corporate media outlet, but from Creeping Sharia via Atlas:

Ok – let’s get this straight. A U.S. congressman named Keith Ellison from Minnesota went to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to attend the annual stampede of millions of Muslims from around the world. At the hajj, on Mount Arafat, a Grand Mufti’s annual sermon placed blamed for the worlds economic crisis and recommended a solution (hint: sharia):

Saudi Arabia’s top cleric has used his annual sermon to Muslim pilgrims assembling for hajj to urge Muslim countries to renounce capitalism and form an Islamic economic bloc that adopts interest-free finance.

Grand Mufti Abdelaziz Al al-Sheikh told worshippers assembling on the plain of Mount Arafat that global economies now caught in crisis were suffering the result of using interest as a bedrock of their financial systems. Under Islamic law, or sharia, paying or receiving interest is forbidden.

As Keith Ellison, the first Muslim member of the US Congress who performed Haj this week, told CNN, you forget who you are –- black or white and American or African — and where you come from when you are before God circling the Kaaba in a two-piece unstitched garment.

Who’s going to remind Keith X when he gets back to Minny that he’s an American again?

Think sharia finance is a joke?  It’s being taught at MIT and we already showed it’s invaded Britain.

A friend of mine just emailed me one of your articles from a while back. I read that one a few more. Really enjoy your blog. Thanks

Is it too late to ask for sharia financing on my educational loans?

I live in Keith Ellison’s district and am proud he’s my US Representative.

I get the impression from this post that it’s not okay to talk about your faith if it isn’t Christian. I don’t know if that’s really what you’re saying, but it sounds like it.

thanks for writing mr kohler. it’s much appreciated.
not sure where you got the idea that i only support expressions of christianity, or even that ellison is worthy of pride. ellison is america’s first ‘nation of islam congressman,’ as thoroughly outlined by powerlineblog; which i’ve linked to. if you’ve relied on npr or the local corporate media to inform you about ellison, you’re missing the whole picture on this fringe character.
i would have loved to see the strib ask ellison (keith X) a question about how he rationalizes the democratic platform with his islamic faith. certainly it’s not abortion and gay marriage that attracted him. maybe, we could learn more about islam that way and make democracy more appealing to the muslim world, by using ellison as a model for modern islam.
but no. they never said a critical peep about him.
and that type of negligence is a big reason why OutOfTheBlue is now on the scene.

i’m new at this writing thing, so i’m working to improve my communication skills, but i’m not sure how we crossed wires.
so we’re clear, i’m upset that an american citizen, let alone a congressman is in mecca where anti semitic and anti americanism is rampant, yet he says nothing to quell that tide; in fact, he’d rather lecture us on what makes them anti-semitic, anti-americans; and that he forgets he’s an american while he’s over there…i can’t say i’ve ever “not felt like an american,” or forgot about my country. even at my place of worship, i am reminded how lucky i am to be an american. thankfully, judeo-christian tradition doesn’t hinder my nationalism, in fact they glorify each other.
if you know much about islam, you’ll know that there aren’t “nations” outlined in the koran, and that this was likely the glory that ellison was referring to. ‘one nation under allah,’

if you see him now that he’s back, please remind him that he’s an american again, although i presume he’ll continue to act as simply a member of the disgruntled ummah.
since he’s done nothing during his term, can i presume you’re proud of him because he’s a muslim? are you not equally proud of christian congressmen, or alan fine, a jew who ran against him?
thank you sincerely again for your active readership
