I’m always baffled by the “ideas” the left uses to (self) verify their triumphant worldviews. They seem to vurp them up in some vainglorious revelation and thereafter mentally check out of the dialogue (as if they were ever really actively involved) and then “take their ball and go home,” I am almost always left unimpressed, unconvinced, and pretty sure that their oar doesn’t really delve too deeply into the waters of logic, for conservatives have already considered their shallow thoughts, and pushed further after being left unsatisfied.
The implied notion and smug look on their faces upon this faux-trump card, often reveals liberal elitism and disdain for conservatives. Usually this proud moment for liberals is steeped in moral relativism, commonly; “But we supported Hussein (Saddam) and Bin Laden and theeeeen we fought against them.” Or, “but if you die from an errant US missile, are you any more dead than if a homicide bomber kills you at a market in Baghdad?
As the campaigns were winding down, a chain letter arrived in my inbox multiple times, from many friends. The letter suggested something shocking. That racism from whites against blacks (duh) was really the only reason that Obama was in a close race. The title of the email is, “How racism clouds judgment.” My initial reaction was to spin it back to them with all the concerns about Obama’s radical connections and beliefs, supplanted unto John Mccain’s life. What I thought, but didn’t say, was that being a ‘smart’ Ivy-League graduate, didn’t make you correct. In fact, according to Dennis Prager, it often makes you completely wrong. One of my favorite Prager quotes is, “you have to be taught to believe something that stupid.”
Another of my favorite thinkers, Thomas Sowell, absolutely skewers the “logic” behind the chain letter that many of you probably saw.
“How have intellectuals managed to be so wrong, so often? By thinking that because they are knowledgeable— or even expert— within some narrow band out of the vast spectrum of human concerns, that makes them wise guides to the masses and to the rulers of the nation.
But the ignorance of Ph.D.s is still ignorance and high-IQ groupthink is still groupthink, which is the antithesis of real thinking.“
. There’s little doubt that Obama is an exceedingly bright, clean and articulate guy… I’m concerned that the marxist, globalist, zero-sum game, intellectuals who’ve taught him, and who he’s “carefully sought out,” have overwhelmed his capable mind and, clouded his judgment.
